Gillian Boxx shows her gold medal to a future Olympian!
The California Gamers softball team hosted a skills clinic for players ages 4-10 and had a terrifict turnout. Olympian Gillian Boxx turned up to teach the girls hitting and catching skills while letting the little ones wear her gold medal. It was a great day with the Gamers players working hard to show the young girls the basic skills needed to participate in this fun sport. The event helped raise funds for both Burlingame Girls Softball and Gamers. If you are interested in hosting a clinic or fundraiser for your group, please contact Jen Short at jen@burlingamer.com for more information. Gillian Box is also hosting her own Tuesday night skills cliinics for players 6-9 year of age - general skills and 10 years or older for hitting. Please check MySam for more information and to register.

Gamers in Their New Pink Uniforms
You may have noticed some pink uniforms around the field over the last year. Cal Gamers has adopted PINK in to our official color scheme to support breast cancer. It started when one of our player's mother began a battle to beat breast cancer last summer and the team bonded together to support the family. On October 7, several of our team members particpated in the Relay For Life to raise funds for cancer research. We are very proud of our team and their commitment to philanthropy and their families! We think the pink is here to stay!

The California Gamer Burlingame Girls Softball Clinic was huge hit on February 3 with over 70 players joining us for fun. We learned about hitting, throwing, fielding, and pitching. Many former BGS players volunteered iin this fundraiser for their travel teams. It is hard to believe they were that small just a few years ago. Special guest Gillian Boxx who played for the Cal Bears and on the 1996 Olympic team was a huge hit as girls had a chance to wear her gold medal and take photos. It was a great day and we thank all that supported us.
On October 6 and 7 the Cal Gamers had two showstopper performances. The team took first place in the College Showcase tournament going 7 - 0 for the weekend. The amazing thing was that a number of their teammates were walking in the Relay for Life as a way to raise over $1,000 to beat cancer! Both groups were winners that weekend with the Relay Girls completing their 24 hour walk and the Gamers going 4-0 on Sunday to clinch the title in a final game that put them on the board with 8 runs to zip! The amazing thing is that the Sunday team included only 9 players so everyone pitched in and did their part to throw down one heck of a weekend. Well-done Gamers!
